HOTEL HEINITZBURG

A small, intimate hotel, the Heinitzburg boasts en-suite rooms with excellent views facing the pristine pool, the mountainous Khomas Hochland or beautiful courtyard. A full continental breakfast is served in the lovely garden café overlooking the city and the mountain range, or in the grand Aschenborn Room in the old castle. Centrally located, the Heinitzburg is a short drive from the heart of town. The wine cellar boasts the largest private collection in Namibia, and its superb Restaurant  - Leo’s - more than compliments the cellar, with a remarkable view of the Windhoek skyline and a deserved reputation for fine dining. In addition to the lovely accommodation, views and cuisine, a number of activities (mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, golf and swimming) are available for guests.

MUSHARA LODGE

Located a short distance from Etosha National Park, Mushara Lodge is situated on its own private reserve, where a wealth of wildlife and birdlife can be found. Each sumptuous chalet features a spacious en-suite bathroom. Thatched guest areas consist of a small library, dining area, a sitting room with a welcoming fireplace, a bar with an extensive wine cellar and a curio shop. During the summer months, meals are served on the covered terrace. There is an inviting swimming pool surrounded by lush lawns that are frequently visited by kudu.

Guests are treated to superb meals; continental or English breakfasts are served buffet-style, while lunch and dinner menus are fixed, and accompanied by a choice of excellent South African wines. The main attraction of Mushara is its proximity to Etosha National Park and game drives into the Park can be pre-booked for guests on a fly-in safari. There are two well-marked hiking trails on the Mushara Game Farm, which are ideal for guests wanting to explore their beautiful surroundings.

SOSSUSVLEI DESERT LODGE

Cradled against the ancient mountains, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is renowned for the sophisticated desert experience it offers, complimented by its luxurious accommodation. Designed to capture the splendor and solitude of the desert, only ten stone and glass desert villas are spread out along the curve of the escarpment allowing absolute privacy. Each air-conditioned suite features a private veranda, split-level bedroom and living room with fireplace, en-suite glass-encased bathroom and outdoor shower. The villas are equipped with a star-viewing skylight, discreet CD system, custom-stocked personal bar and compact spotting scope for magnificent stargazing. The Lodge features a fire-lit bar, comfortable sitting room, mezzanine library, swimming pool, wraparound verandas and a Safari Shop.

Guests can escape the desert heat with a revitalizing midday dip in the pool. Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is also renowned for organizing exciting bush breakfasts and dune dinners in dramatic desert locations. After dinner, a resident astronomer will enthrall guests as he reveals the mysteries of the clear desert night sky through a large telescope.

Upon arrival you will be collected from Hosea Kutako International Airport and be driven to Hotel Heinitzburg. Windhoek is often described as one of the cleanest capitals in Africa and visitors are surprised that this city, considered to be part of deepest Africa, offers all modern amenities (hotels, banks, gyms, libraries, museums, and health facilities) that adhere to the highest global standards.

Windhoek to Etosha National Park

You will be collected and be driven to Eros Airport for your private Scenic Air charter flight to Etosha. After arrival you will be transferred to Mushara Lodge. Etosha is one of Africa’s great wildlife parks and Namibia’s prime wildlife conservation area. Spanning a vast 22 300 km² (8 610 square miles), it consists mostly of grassy plains around a huge salt pan, which becomes a beautiful lake after heavy rains and attracts large flocks of pink, candy floss coloured flamingos. Etosha hosts a vast array of animals, including the Big Five, as well as giraffes, and rare and unusual species like the black-faced impala, Hartmann’s Mountain zebra or the smallest antelope in the world, the Damaradikdik.

Partaking on safari is the ideal way to explore a specific area amongst a small group of people with a 4 x 4 safari vehicle. The open-air safari vehicles allow you to have a 360-degree view on the vehicles, an ideal positioning for the keen photographer.

You will embark on a safari after breakfast and on another in the afternoon. Almost 144 kinds of mammals this area, including several endangered species, and there are 340 bird species. In addition to enjoying the superb scenery and breathing in the fresh air, you will observe a vast array of animals like lion, leopard, elephant and rhino.

As one of Africa’s greatest and most intriguing wildlife sanctuaries, Etosha National Park brings you continuous surprises. The 5000km² salt pans, which attracts thousands of flamingos after heavy rains provide excellent photography sites. Take your camera and capture of feeding rhino or flying birds; images that you might only capture once in a lifetime.

Etosha National Park to Sossusvlei

You will be transferred to the airstrip for your private Scenic Air charter flight to Sossusvlei. Then you will be transferred to Sossusvlei Desert Lodge.

Sossusvlei is in the heart of the enormous, almost 50 000 km² Namib-Naukluft Park. Surrounded by a sea of ever-changing sand dunes, Sossusvlei is a clay pan that only rarely fills with water. It is a place of awe-inspiring beauty - magnificent terracotta sand dunes rising over 300 m (980 feet) into the vast, blue sky. Said to be among the highest dunes in the world, climbing to the top of one of these dunes is an unforgettable experience.

An early start from the Lodge to enter the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise, while the temperature is still mild and when the dune contrasts are at their best. You will travel in one of our all-terrain URI Gameviewer vehicles, custom-built in Namibia for the Lodge. One of our specially trained guides will accompany you, sharing his knowledge of the area, of the animals and plant life, as well as the culture.

Regular stops are made on the ±60 kilometer drive down to the Vlei to enjoy the views. At Dune 45, our more energetic guests have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of the world's most photographed dune. Further along, a gradual 2.6-kilometer round-trip walk up to Dead Vlei is a must for the healthy visitors. Spend time in Sossusvlei before returning to the Lodge approximately 5½ hours later in time for luncheon.
