Going on safari today is all about viewing wild animals in their natural habitat. Hunting is a thing of the past. Our clients accompany their guide as he tracks animals in large open spaces, framing their experience with his expertise as he interprets the numerous sights, sounds and scents of the African plains for his guests. Elephants gathering around a watering hole with crocodiles lurking nearby? The ground vibrating as herds of migrating wildebeest thunder across a river? Witnessing a leopard lounging on a tree or a rhinoceros nestled into the curve of his mother? Viewing the Big 5 in their natural habitat is mesmerizing and being welcomed into their territory is an intimate experience to cherish. These magnificent creatures also share their space with hundreds of other species of incredible wildlife, creating endless potential for the safari enthusiast.

To read more about the Big 5, please refer to our Journal section under the Animal theme.

However, your day can also be sprinkled with a number of other delights - luxuriate in a spa treatment, take a hot air balloon ride, or wander into a nearby village. Your day typically starts with a cup of tea or coffee before sunrise and then you depart in your vehicle to track animals. Morning is considered to be the most opportune time of the day for viewing since the nocturnal animals are still active and the morning is still cool. A late breakfast will be enjoyed either in the back at the lodge, after which guests can either relax in the afternoon sun or partake in other activities. Another safari is organized in the late afternoon, continuing until you sip cocktails while watching the sunset.
